Runny eyes and tear stains (medically referred to as Epiphora) are a major concern for dog owners.  If you have a white Bichon Frise, Maltese, or Poodle, you are probably very familiar with unsightly tear stains.  They certainly don’t go well with your dog’s new couture.   The bacteria or yeast growth, particularly an organism called “red yeast” (causes the red/brownish stain color and possibly unpleasant odor) thrive on moisture and are attracted to the tear ducts in the eyes. Basic tips:  Give your pet fresh, distilled water, use stainless steel bowls, and keep their eyes clean (and area around the eyes like folds and muzzle) and dry everyday.
